Are you ready to go flying? All cadets are entitled to five Powered Orientation flights, five Glider Orientation flights and five Balloon Orientation flights over their career as a cadet, during which they sit in the right front seat and take the controls under the watchful eye of a qualified CAP pilot. UPCOMING EVENTS
August 10 – EAA Pancake Breakfast - Young Eagles – Cadet Orientation Rides
Beginning August 10th our local EAA chapter will be experimenting with a new format for its Pancake Breakfast and Young Eagles program. Flying will be done on the two Jaybird simulators that are now working thanks to Lt Col Aronson and his genius friend Diego. There will also be several STEM activities to gauge interest in a larger program. EAA needs adults to help in the kitchen, and cadets and senior members to help Young Eagles with the simulators and the STEM activities. Please contact Lt Maggie Schumacher if you can help in the kitchen and are interested in helping with the Jaybirds and the STEM activities.
July 15 (rescheduled from June 27) – USAF Low Level Route Survey
A team of two Mission Pilots and two Mission Scanners will once again be supporting Travis AFB by surveying a 300-mile portion of a military low-level training route. We’d like one or two people to staff the communications center from 8 until around noon.
August 13 – Training and Information Night & Open House
We will have a guest speaker for the first hour.
Make-up promotion items, other than drill, available if requested in advance.
Help on IS courses for drone technician rating
October 4-6 – Reno Air Show
Reno Squadron needs help for the upcoming Reno Air Show. You can sign up on their squadron web site at Reno Air Show — RENO COMPOSITE SQUADRON. If enough seniors and cadets sign up we may be able arrange transportation for you up and back.

TRAINING SEMINARS
Unless otherwise noted, these events are posted on the Reno Squadron’s website. The folks in Reno generally want you to sign up so they can arrange the space and plan for lunch. Some classes are broadcast via Microsoft Teams and recordings may be available but it’s better to be there in person if you can.
Mission Scanner and Mission Staff Assistant Training
We plan to hold a Mission Scanner (MS) ground school and a Mission Staff Assistant (MSA) training class at Truckee this summer. If you’re interested in the MS school, please let SM Ellis or Capt Beadle know along with dates you’re available. Cadets and senior members can and should attend the MSA class. MSA is one of the few ES jobs that can be performed by cadets, even for real missions, and we are asking all senior members who wish to obtain an air crew qualification to obtain the MSA and MRO qualifications as well. An MRO class will be announced at a later date.

Many of our cadets are graduates of this program and a few have attended more than once. This year, there will be five camps:
-
July Space Camp the week of July 22 (five successive weekdays)
-
August Space Camp the week of August 12 (five successive weekdays)
-
Fall Space Camp on Saturdays only September 28, October 5, 12, 19 and 26
